Despite our appeals to the Greek coastguard & their presence on scene of distress in Greek waters, the 32 people, including 11 women & 11 children, are NOT being rescued. Some are injured, a pregnant woman is in labour and in pain.

Έκκληση για διάσωση 32 προσφύγων που βρίσκονται αβοήθητοι μεσοπέλαγα, βόρεια της Λέσβου, απευθύνει οργάνωση που επιτηρεί περιστατικά διακινδύνευσης στην Ανατολική Μεσόγειο.
Σύμφωνα με ανάρτηση της οργάνωσης στο Twitter, 32 πρόσφυγες -ανάμεσά τους μικρά παιδιά και μια έγκυος που βρίσκεται σε κρίσιμη κατάσταση- έχουν αφεθεί αβοήθητοι, με τις αρχές να εξακολουθούν να αρνούνται τη διάσωσή τους.
Όπως καταγγέλλει «η ελληνική και η τουρκική ακτοφυλακή τους έχουν αφήσεις μόνους τους στη θάλασσα».
Σύμφωνα με την οργάνωση «η τουρκική ακτοφυλακή είναι παρούσα, αλλά μας λέει ότι δεν μπορεί να επέμβει καθώς το πλοίο βρίσκεται σε ελληνικά νερά. Απαιτούμε άμεση διάσωση από την Ελλάδα! Αυτές οι σκηνές μη βοήθειας και βίας στα σύνορα της Ευρώπης με το Αιγαίο πρέπει να σταματήσουν».
Denial of rescue is unlawful & puts lives in danger! The Turkish coastguard is present but tells us that they cannot intervene as the boat is in Greek water. We demand immediate rescue to Greece! These scenes of non-assistance and violence at Europe’s Aegean border have to stop!

Η κραυγή αγωνίας των προσφύγων μέσα στη βάρκα είναι ενδεικτική του κινδύνου στον οποίο έχουν περιέλθει.
«Κανείς δεν νοιάζεται για τη ζωή μας, αν ζούμε ή πεθαίνουμε. Είμαστε θύματα των παιχνιδιών πολιτικής εξουσίας μεταξύ Ελλάδας και Τουρκίας. Το σκάφος μας έχει μια τρύπα και μπαίνει νερό. Υπάρχουν Τούρκοι και Έλληνες και απλώς παρακολουθούν».
The people are saying: “Our boat has a hole and water is entering. There are the Turkish and there the Greeks and they just watch.” They need to be rescued immediately!

Όσο περνάει η ώρα δε, η αγωνία και ο φόβος τους γίνονται ακόμη πιο έντονοι. «Παρακαλούμε βιαστείτε, φοβόμαστε τόσο πολύ! Η έγκυος γυναίκα λιποθυμάει. Βρισκόμαστε πραγματικά σε πολύ κακή κατάσταση».

Minutes ago, a person on the boat told us that the pregnant woman is dying. We could hear the people in the boat scream. #Europe, what are you doing? @HCoastGuard these people need immediate rescue. Do not let the woman and the baby die!
